Local Legends: Tell Us Who Makes Ballito, Ballito
by I Love Ballito Writer · · 2 min read
A town is its people. Ballito and the North Coast have plenty who have given years to this place and have never been thanked in public. Local Legends is where I Love Ballito tells their stories.
There is no awards night and no entry fee. When we find a story worth telling, we tell it properly.
Who counts as a Local Legend
- Someone who has given years to this community: a teacher, a lifeguard, a nurse, a coach, a volunteer.
- A small, locally owned business that people would miss if it closed.
- Someone doing something quietly remarkable that deserves to be known.
- Anyone from Zimbali to Zinkwazi, and inland to Umhlali. You do not have to live in Ballito itself.
It is not for big brands, and it cannot be bought. Local Legends is editorial, not advertising. Nobody pays to be in it, and nobody can.
Nominate someone
Tell us who, and why. Three or four sentences is enough: who they are, what they do, and why this place is better for having them. Add a way for us to reach them, and your own name so we can say who nominated them.
Send your nomination through our contact page, and start your message with the words Local Legend so we can find it.
You can nominate as many people as you like. You can nominate yourself, but your neighbour doing it carries more weight.
Your photos
We also want to see this place the way you see it. Post your best photo of Ballito or the North Coast with #ILoveBallito, or send it to the I Love Ballito Facebook page. We share the ones we like and credit the photographer.
What happens next
- We read every nomination.
- We cannot write about everyone who is nominated. We choose the stories we think this community most needs to hear.
- When we choose one, we get in touch. The story runs here and on our Facebook page, which more than 59,000 people follow.
Tell us who we should write about first.
