With a passion for the care of people and the community of Ballito, Dr Chris Le Roux, a practising psychologist and international trainer, has returned from his extensive work overseas and is now able to focus his full energy on those in his hometown and surrounding areas. Chris’s services include psychological interventions (individual, group and organisations), soft skills training, and Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification training. After travelling all over the world to deliver his services, he is finally returning home where the residents of the North Coast can make use of his great skills.
“We moved here in 2003 and this place has just something about it. We love the beach and family lifestyle in Ballito. It is an amazing place to live a work-life balanced lifestyle. The vibe in Ballito is electrifying. We as a family love it!” Chris says. “I encourage a work-life balanced lifestyle and for us as a family, there is no better place to be. I have travelled to many parts of the world, including Istanbul, Cyprus, Austria, Mauritius, UAE, the Middle East and many African countries and I can say that without a doubt Ballito is the place that my family and I want to be. We all love it here.”
Dr Chris is passionate about helping people. He has been teaching and lecturing since 1981 and qualified as a psychologist in 1997. He then went on to complete his Ph.D. in 2007. “I feel exceptionally fulfilled when creating positive experiences with my patients and clients. It makes me feel enthusiastic and optimistic in life.” Chris himself was very confused when leaving school and did not have any idea what his true passion was, so to assist clients with their future careers excites and fulfills him and he is thrilled to be able to assist students as they choose their subjects in Grade 9, those who need career guidance, and those who might be coming to terms with losing their job. Dr Chris can also assist with other forms of therapy including marriage counseling and help with addictions, and wants to change the negative stigma associated with therapy.
“I am a down-to-earth person, open and honest. My approach is based on Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT).” This approach helps you identify irrational beliefs and negative thought patterns that may lead to emotional or behavioural issues. Once you’ve identified these patterns, Dr Chris Le Roux will help you develop strategies to replace them with more rational thought patterns.
“I have big plans for 2021. I have accepted this pandemic and have created opportunities. I will be completing the facilitator, assessor and moderator courses to align the business with the different Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs). I will also be taking my psychology practice to an international level – Ballito and the surrounding areas are mature for this now.” Watch this space!
