It’s been 6 months since a  large section of the M4 was washed away due to heavy rain and finally, the road is set to open next week (12 June 2020). The road is mainly used as an alternative to the N2 when traveling to King Shaka International Airport or When Traveling between Ballito and Umhlanga/Durban, so the reopening of this road will definitely ease off on the traffic between these destinations, as it will once again give motorists an alternate route.

The heavy rains experienced last year resulted in the erosion of the embankment, which led to the eventual collapse to a large portion of the road. Hopefully, these repairs will prevent any future erosion on this stretch of road.
