Ballito Locals enter $1million RØDE film competition

Ballito is awash (pun intended) with a variety of vibrant and skilled individuals. To attest to this local filmmakers Timothy Hay and Mark Whitfield have both entered captivating storytelling videos in this year’s ‘My RØDE Reel’, a competition platform set up to show off the creativity of global storytellers and filmmakers.

With this year being the biggest competition RØDE has ever hosted and the opportunity to win a share of a monumental $1 million in cash amongst other prizes our local filmmakers are going to need all the help they can get so let’s support local.

Here’s a brief introduction to the two entries with links to watch and share their videos.

Manzi Olwandle (Ocean water)

Ballito local and Happy Ballito videographer, Timothy Hay, displays his versatility in his new short Manzi Olwandle which follows a true story about a Surfer (Avo) that lost his brother (Zama) to a tragic shark attack when they were young boys at their home break in Port St John’s, and where the ocean is the link that bonds their two spirits.
